SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS

Hudson High School Home & School Association has offered five $500.00 scholarships.  Based on funds, it is the association's intention to offer this every year.  Each scholarship is awarded to a community-oriented graduating senior of Hudson High School who has demonstrated a willingness to volunteer and help those around him/her.

Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:

         >Essay: 20 points

         >Financial Need: 30 points

         >Volunteer/Community Service Activities/work: 30 points

         >  Academic record: 20 points

Each applicant must be a graduating senior from Hudson High School, who will be enrolling in a trade/technical/vocational school or a junior/community college or a four-year college/university.

Included with the application is a copy of the applicant’s most recent transcript, including GPA, a list of volunteer/community service activities and hours served since grade nine, and a  double space typed word essay (No more than 500 words) based on one of the essay topics listed on the application.

Applications are reviewed by a four-person committee, which is parents/guardians whose children are not seniors at Hudson High School.  Applications are anonymous to avoid bias on the part of committee members. (Applicant names are “blacked out” by a designee of HHS H&SA and each applicant is assigned a number.)

Assuming the scholarship recipient remains a “student in good standing,” he/she must forward a first semester transcript from his/her post-secondary school to the Hudson High School Home & School Association, 69 Brigham Street, Hudson, MA 01749 and a check in the amount awarded shall be forwarded within 45 days.

STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

Each spring, HHS H&SA hosts the Hudson High School Staff Appreciation Luncheon in the cafeteria. This is the perfect opportunity for HHS families to thank the entire staff for its ongoing commitment to the education of our children.

Volunteers are usually needed to:

  •   cook and bake for the luncheon (entrees, salads, appetizers, and desserts).

  •   provide beverages for the luncheon.

  •   help set up the luncheon, work during the luncheon, and clean up afterwards.

  •   donate $10.00 gift cards that will be awarded at the luncheon

  •   Monetary donation(payable to HHS H&S).

The luncheon is an important event and we rely on volunteer participation to make it successful. Your help is greatly needed and sincerely appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED!

Like most organizations, HHS H&SA depends upon volunteers to assist with projects, programs, and events. If you volunteer in any capacity where you have contact with students, you need a CORI (criminal background) check. Simply fill out a CORI application in the HHS main office and be sure to bring a photo ID. It takes a minimum of two weeks to process a CORI; so, please do so early in the school year.

PRE-PROM RECEPTION

At Hudson High School Home and School Association, we sponsor the red carpet event for the Junior prom; as well as the DJ and a photo booth inside.  It is a fun and well received special activity that the town comes out to see!
